About the Author

Gary W. Langston, MD

Gary W. Langston is the first in his family to graduate from college, rob a bank at gunpoint, be sentenced to fifteen years at Baltimore State Penitentiary, and, after leaving prison, to be admitted to a medical school and graduate with an advanced degree in medicine.

He was born in Takoma Park, Maryland and graduated from a private high school in New Market, Virginia. It is the same community where he is now retired and finds time to write about how he was able to get into an elite medical school and share some of the dramatic experiences of his life.

Dr. Langston had a distinguished career organizing and practicing emergency medicine in and for small and very large hospital systems. A testament to the quality of care he provided in the litigious setting of the emergency department is that he was never sued for malpractice.

He developed the emergency medicine teaching service for a large county hospital system in Fort Worth, Texas. He looks forward to writing more about the exciting exploits found in the emergency department of today's hospitals.
